Slaughter houses for general public in Sgr: Div Com asks ULB Dept to submit details in a week

Srinagar, Jul 20: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir P K Pole on Tuesday held a review meeting with regard to the efforts and concrete steps to be taken for putting in place the facilities for slaughter houses and other facilities for the general public in Srinagar city and other towns of Valley.

Divisional administration in a meeting has asked the Urban Local Bodies (ULB) to provide all requisite details in a weeks’ time for the mutation and transfer of land for the slaughter houses, solid waste management plants and public parks.

“ULB is in possession of land for slaughter houses in various places of Kashmir division but the same has not been mutated and transferred yet, the chair directed mutation and transfer of Government land, shall be completed within one week’s time positively and without any fail,” the official said.

With regard to the Solid Waste Management Plant, it was mentioned in the meeting that Non-Objection Certificates (NOCs) for some identified sites have not been issued by Pollution Control Board due to some technical reasons and it was directed that some alternate site shall be immediately identified and transferred to indenting department.

“In case the identified land is Kachari land then papers in this regard shall be submitted within a week positively. Further, in order to cater the rush of sewage/garbage disposal on scientific pattern during the peak tourist season, the Tourism Department shall identify suitable patches of land for the purpose within one week,” it stated.

In the meeting, the DC also apprised that at certain places the identified places for development of public parks, the land belongs to Irrigation and Flood Control Department Kashmir and the NOCs for the same is still pending with Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC).

“All such cases shall be taken up with the Chief Engineer, I&FC, Kashmir who shall explore the possibility of issuing NOCs at an earliest. Further, land parcels already under the possession of Municipal Corporation (MC) shall be mutated,” it stated.
