Budgam, July 4: Police have booked a contractor and his nephew after top government official accused them of assault and lodged a police complaint against them. 

Sources said that on Saturday, a contractor who resides in Khansahab accompanied by his nephew visited office of the Executive Engineer Roads and Buildings (R&B).

The duo demanded release of pending bills for winter season while as Executive Engineer assured them that as soon as funds will be received their payment will be released without any delay.

Insiders said that there was an argument while Executive Engineer approached police station Budgam alleging that the contractor and his nephew not only assaulted him but also damaged some office furniture. He lodged a written complaint at police station Budgam.

Police accordingly took cognizance of the written complaint and registered an FIR vide number 192/2021 under section 353, 427, 506 IPC against the accused.

Confirming it, a police official from Budgam said that they are investigating the matter.

Meanwhile, a group of contractors has denounced the ‘motive and action’ of Executive Engineer. knt
