Srinagar, Jun 25: An unidentified male jumped off from Cement Kadal into river Jhelum in Noorbagh area of summer-capital Srinagar on Friday evening. 

Eyewitness said that the person appeared at the bridge this evening and in the blink of a moment jumped into the river – Jhelum – below.

The identity of the person could not be immediately known.

Soon after the news spread, teams of police including SDRF assisted by locals launched a search operation and ventured into the water body to rescue the person.

However no trace was found when this report is being filed.
