‘Viral Prurient Video’: Authorities Suspend One Teacher, Recommends Suspension Of Another

Baramulla, May 29: Hours after Jammu Kashmir Police issued a statement into detention of two teachers purportedly figuring in a ‘viral prurient video’, Zonal Education Officer Uri has in the meantime suspended one of them with immediate effect and recommended suspension of another to his concerned District Officer Baramulla. 

A suspension order in this regard states that “pending enquiry of Mr. Naseer Ahmad Berwal, teacher BMS Mothal is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect. However the teacher is directed to remain attached in the office of undersigned (ZEO Office Uri) till further orders.”

In a separate communiqué to Chief Education Officer Baramulla, the ZEO has recommended ‘suspension and enquiry against Mr. Mushtaq Ahmad Mir, PET BMS Uri with immediate effect.’

“However the teacher is directed to remain attached in the office of the undersigned (ZEO Office Uri) till further orders.”

It is pertinent to mention here that police in a statement issued said that that on intimation about ‘some prurient videos going viral on social media’, showcasing two teachers from Nambla Uri, it swung into action and promptly registered an FIR under sections 66E ,67 IT act, 384 and 418 IPC into the matter.

“The lady involved had video chatted with both the teachers with the purpose of extorting money from both of them and she had demanded money from both of them in lieu of keeping the video secret and had threatened them to upload it on social media sites in case they failed to. She eventually made the video viral on social media”, it read.

“Since the matter involves Section 66 (E) and 67of the IT Act, which prohibit transmission of private images and obscene material over any medium, action shall be taken against anyone found involved in sending, transmitting, displaying or making public in any way such content”, it maintained.

Three persons have already been identified in this regard, and a hunt has been launched to arrest the accused fraud from outside and those found involved in transmitting the material, the statement further read. gns
