Police arrest smuggler; seize timber, vehicle in Khag Budgam

Budgam, May 9: Police in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district arrested a jungle smuggler and seized a vehicle laden with illicit timber.

Police stopped a Tate-Mobile vehicle without a number plate and recovered 14 logs that were being transported to some other place.

Station House Officer Police Station Khag said that the Tata-Mobile vehicle was intercepted at Poshkar area of Khag. “The driver tried to break the Naka but was stopped tactfully by the Police party. Timber and vehicle were seized and the driver arrested.

The police officer identified the arrested person as Hilal Ahmad Resray, a resident of Hamchipora Budgam.

“A case vide FIR number 26/2021 under 33 Forest Act, 379 has been registered and investigation set into motion.
