Srinagar, April 09: At least five militants in a gunfight with government forces at Jan Mohalla area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district on Friday.

Official sources said that two more militants were killed during an encounter this morning while as three were killed on Thursday evening.

The identity of the slain militants is yet to be ascertained.

The officials said further said that the operation was started yesterday evening and prolonged till now due to the presence of militants in Mosque.

Top police and army officials also rushed yesterday to the encounter site to monitor operation personally.

Earlier Reports said that a joint team of Police and army launched a cordon and search operation in Jan Mohalla.

As the joint team of forces approached towards the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off an gunfight.
