Passport Office refused to issue my passport citing it as ‘detrimental to the security of India: Mehbooba

Srinagar, March 29: After authorities rejected her passport, former chief minister and PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on Monday questioned if “this is the level of normalcy achieved in Kashmir since Aug 2019”.

“Passport Office refused to issue my passport based on CID’s report citing it as ‘detrimental to the security of India. This is the level of normalcy achieved in Kashmir since Aug 2019 that an ex Chief Minister holding a passport is a threat to the sovereignty of a mighty nation,” Mehbooba said in a tweet.

The regional passport officer has informed Mehbooba that he application for the passport which received on 14 December last has been refused following a Police Verification Report (PVR) received from Addl. Director General of Police, J&K-CID, which do not favour issuance of the passport in her favour.
