‘Intruder’ killed last night at LOC turns out to be 56 year old man from Kamalkote Uri

Srinagar, Feb 10: The ‘intruder’ who was killed overnight by security forces along Line of Control (LOC) has been identified as elderly from the Kamalkote area of Uri in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, officials said on Wednesday.

A senior police officer said that the man, around 56 years of age, was killed along the LoC near Dulanja Uri. He said that as per preliminary reports, the slain has been identified as Sarfraz Mir Son of Sain Mir of Kundibarjala Kamalkote.

Born in 1960s, the man had crossed the LoC in early 1990 and then returned in 1992, the officer said.

He had then surrendered in 1995 and went back to Pak in 2005. Also, an ID card issued by authorities in Muzaffarabad along with a weapon has been recovered, he said.

Earlier, forces have claimed that that they have killed an intruder at Dulanja post near LoC in Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district in wee hours on Wednesday.

A senior Police had said that in night hours one intruder was killed at LoC on PaK side near forword post Dulanja Uri by  forces.

The officer further had said that the body along with weapon was visible, however more clarity will come after we retrieve the body.

Meanwhile Police URI has rushed towards the incident site to ascertain further details.(GNS)
