Five die due to COVID 19, 332 fresh cases reported

Srinagar, December 16: Jammu and Kashmir reported five more covid-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, taking the fatality count to 1817, officials said on Wednesday.

Among the victims, the officials said that four belonged to Jammu and one to Kashmir Valley—a 73-year-old man from Munawarabad Srinagar.

Among those who succumbed to the virus in Jammu region include three from the J&K’s winter capitalone from Reasi district, they said.

With these deaths, the total fatality count in J&K reached 1817—1157 in the Valley and 660 in the Jammu region.

Srinagar district with 437 deaths tops the list followed by Jammu (336), Baramulla (169), Budgam (105), Pulwama (88), Kupwara (88), Anantnag (82), Doda (60), Bandipora (57), Udhampur (54), Kulgam (53), Rajouri (53), Kathua (47), Ganderbal (41), Shopian (37), Samba (34), Poonch (22), Ramban (21), Kishtwar(21), and Reasi (12). Meanwhile Jammu and Kashmir reported 332 fresh covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total number of cases to 116932 in J&K.

Among the fresh cases with ten travelers, 181 are from Jammu Division and 151 from Kashmir Valley, the officials said.

Giving district-wise details, they said, Srinagar reported 53, Baramulla 19, Budgam 19, Kupwara 13, Pulwama 12, Anantnag 15, Bandipora 9, Ganderbal 10, Kulgam 0, Shopian 1, Jammu 96, Udhampur 14,
Rajouri 12, Doda 12, Kathua 14, Kishtwar 8, Samba 11, Poonch 2, Ramban 7 and Reasi 5.

Moreover, they said, 415 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals— 239 from Jammu Division and 176 from Kashmir Valley, they added.
