Pampore encounter: Two militants killed, another surrenders says Police

Srinagar’ Nov 6: Two militant were killed while another surrendered during an encounter with goverenment forces in ncounter in Meej area of Pampore in South Kashmir’s Awantipora, police said.

Official sources while divulging details said that after militants attacked search party yesterday, the fleeing militants were chased and tracked down in nearby area of Pampore.

Operation was halted yesterday late evening due to darkness as it has become regular norm during an encounter. However as the first light of the day striked, the operation was resumed, they said.

In ensuing gunfight, one militant has been killed, however identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained, the officer added.

Yesterday, Two civilians were injured, one of them critically after militants attacked the search party of security forces in Meej area of Pampore.

Police claimed a militant surrendered during the operation.

A police official said that a militant surrendered while “efforts are underway to persuade another militant trapped inside.” The identity of the surrendered one was not revealed so far.
