COVID-19: 16 fatalities, 738 test positive as J&K tally crosses 80,000

Srinagar, Oct 06: The Covid-19 figures continued to show a fall on Tuesday as 16 people died of the dreaded virus while as only 738 cases tested positive taking the total number of positive cases in the UT to over 80,476. The death toll has mounted to 1268.

The exact number of Covid cases in J&K are 80,476. Of the total 80,476 cases, 48,227 are from Kashmir and 32,249 from Jammu division.

Officials said that among 738 new cases, 448 belong to Kashmir division while as 290 are from Jammu division, adding that the total number of positive cases in Kashmir division have reached to 48,227 including 40,994 recoveries and 873 deaths while as total number of positive cases in Jammu division have reached to 32,249 including 24,502 recoveries and 395 deaths.

The officials said that total number of active cases in Jammu and Kashmir are 13,712 including 6,360 from Kashmir division and 7,352 from Jammu division.

With 1,706 more recoveries, the tally of total recoveries in Jammu and Kashmir has reached to 65,406 which is 81.38 percent of the total cases.

“Cases tested positive in J&K include 183 from Srinagar, 46 from Budgam, 37 from Baramulla, 55 from Pulwama, 42 from Kupwara, 22 from Anantnag, 30 from Bandipora, 20 from Ganderbal, 04 from Kulgam and 09 from Shopian in Kashmir division while as 290 from Jammu division include 91 from Jammu, 27 from Rajouri, 14 from Udhampur, 26 from Doda, 18 from Kuthua, 12 from Poonch, 29 from Samba, 14 from Ramban, 31 from Kishtiwar, and 28 from Reasi,” officials disclosed.

Notably, in the last 24 hours, 16 persons who were tested positive for COVID-19 have died which include eight from Kashmir division and eight from Jammu division.

As per media bulletin, patients who have died include four from Srinagar, two from Anantnag and one each from Kupwara and Ganderbal in Kashmir division while as eight from Jammu division include three from Jammu district, two each from Doda and Kuthua and one from Kishtiwar

As per officials figures, 15,835 positive cases including 307 deaths and 13,780 recoveries are from Srinagar, 5,160 including 88 deaths and 4,299 recoveries are from Budgam, 4,640 including 3,142 recoveries and 125 deaths are from Baramulla, 4,122 including 3,676 recoveries and 70 deaths are from Pulwama, 3,794 including 69 deaths and 3,022 recoveries are from Kupwara, 3,666 including 3,130 recoveries and 69 deaths are from Anantnag, 3,613 cases including 3,148 and 40 deaths are from Bandipora, 3,029 including 2,759 recoveries and 30 deaths are from Ganderbal, 2,305 including 2,165 recoveries and 43 deaths are from Kulgam and 2,063 including 1,873 recoveries and 32 deaths are from Shopian.

In Jammu division, 14,778 including 11,764 recoveries and 206 deaths are from Jammu district, 2,851 including 2,311 recoveries and 37 deaths are from Rajouri, 2,416 including 2,017 recoveries and 21 deaths are from Udhampur, 2,337 including 1,390 recoveries and 36 deaths are from Doda, 2,165 including 1,854 recoveries and 28 deaths are from Kuthua, 1,896 including 1,010 recoveries and 17 deaths are from Poonch, 1,893 including 1,321 recoveries and 22 deaths are from Samba, 1,412 including 1,266 recoveries and 11 deaths are from Ramban, 1,435 including 777 recoveries and 11 deaths are from Kishtiwar and 1,066 including 740 recoveries and 06 deaths are from Reasi

As per the daily information bulletin, 598,659 persons in Jammu and Kashmir are under observation while 25,624 persons have been kept under home quarantine besides that 13,712 persons are in isolation.

According to the bulletin, 510,598 persons have completed surveillance period and 47,457 persons are under home surveillance besides that so far results of 1,741,300 samples are available.

Out of 1,741,300 the number of samples tested negative stands at 1,660,824 while 80,476 have tested positive, among them 13,712 are active, 65,496 persons have recovered and 1,268 persons have died.
