Day after attempting suicide by setting self ablaze,Sopore woman succumbs at SMHS

Sopore, Aug 26: A woman who had sustained severe burn injuries on Tuesday after she set self ablaze, , succumbed to her injuries on Wednesday at Srinagar’s SMHS hospital.

Officials said  that a woman allegedly set herself ablaze by  pouring kerosene oil over her body at her home in Naseerabad area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

They said her husband reportedly managed to douse the fire but both received severe burn injuries.

She along with her husband was rushed to hospital where from they were referred to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at SMHS hospital in Srinagar where she succumbed to her injuries today.

Meanwhile, Station House Officer (SHO) Sopore, Azim Khan confirmed to KNO that the woman has succumbed to her injuries at SMHS hospital.

The investigation is on to ascertain as to why the victim had taken this extreme step, he said, adding that a case has been registered in Police Station Sopore—(KNO)
