18 persons involved in illegal sand mining arrested in Baramulla: Police

Baramulla, July 05: Police on Sunday claimed to have arrested 18 persons who were involved in illegal sand mining in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

In a statement, Police said after receiving information of illegal sand mining from river Jhelum at Baramulla, swift action was taken and 18 persons were arrested while four tractors and one tipper was seized on spot at Khojbagh area when they were found illegally extracting and loading sand from river Jhelum.

In this regard case FIR no106/2020 u/s 188,379,447,427IPC stands registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation taken up.

Baramulla Police is also requesting people living adjacent to the mining areas of river Jhelum to kindly pass information of illegal sand extraction from river Jhelum to police.
