Teacher from Sopore booked by Cyber police for “misusing social media” and creating “fake narrative””

Sopore, July 03: Jammu and Kashmir police’s cyber cell said that it has booked a teacher for misusing social media by spreading false propaganda against the government.  

In a statement, the police identified the person as Tahir Nazir Shalla, who is working in the Higher education department (Higher Education).

In contravention of social media policy for government employees, the police claimed that Shalla was  running an anti-national campaign on “social media and tried to create an untrue and fake narrative”.

“The accused was circulating highly seditious and provocative posts through his social media accounts which were highly prejudicial to the maintenance of law and order,” the police said.

The accused has been handed over to police station Sopore by cyber cell and got booked under relevant sections of law for further course of action.

“Investigations are set in motion to identify other persons involved in similar anti-state campaigns on social media and spreading false propaganda” the police added.
