Attempts at demographic engineering are completely unacceptable to the people of J&K: Hurriyet (M)

Srinagar, July 1: All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) (M) has said that attempts at demographic engineering are completely unacceptable to the people of J&K and they reject it.

“Since 1947 there have also been attempts to change the demographic character of J&K and in August 2019 a final nail in the coffin was hammered in this regard. These attempts at demographic engineering are completely unacceptable to the people of J&K who have totally rejected it,” Hurriyat (M) said in a statement issued here.

Hurriyat (M) executive members Prof. Abdul Ghani Bhat and Bilal Ghani lone called on ailing executive member and former APHC chairman Maulana Abbas Ansari to check on his deteriorating health at his residence and later held a meeting there.

Executive member Masroor Abbas Ansari also participated in the meeting while APHC  chairman  Mirwaiz Umar Farooq could not attend as he continues to be under arbitrary house arrest since August 2019.

Hurriyat (M) members at the meeting said that government should stop issuing domicile certificates to outsiders with the view to change the demographic character of J&K, which is causing great concern among people and could have serious consequences for the region.

Hurriyat (M) members advised people to be very vigilant at this time and not sell their land or any property to outsiders at any cost.

All Hurriyat (M) members at the meeting reiterated APHC‘s basic stand that the dispute of Jammu and Kashmir has to be resolved peacefully as per the wishes and aspirations of the people of J&K among the three stakeholders India ,Pakistan and people of J&K.

“Dialogue among the three stakeholders is the best alternative method to resolve the issue that APHC has consistently advocated and even participated in. While Resolution of the Kashmir issue is the best guarantee of real peace and subsequent prosperity in the subcontinent,” Hurriyat (M) stated.

Hurriyat (M) members said that they will continue to pursue persistently for peaceful resolution of Kashmir conflict.

“Members at the meeting said that since 1931 when the people of J&K stood up for the realisation of their aspirations, till date those aspirations and there will have been repeatedly compromised,” the statement added.

Hurriyat (M)members also condemned the killing of a civilian at Sopore today during an encounter by the forces as per the family he was killed in cold blood. It said the images of his 3 years old child by the grand fathers dead body are heart wrenching.

The amalgam called for an immediate end to these killings.
