Pakistan violates ceasefire in Machil sector: Army

Srinagar, June 18: Pakistani army on Thursday afternoon violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, army said.

An official said that Pakistan army initiated an unprovoked CFV along the LoC in Machil Sector by firing mortars and other weapons.

“The Indian army personnel were giving a ‘strong and befitting’ response to the ceasefire violation,” he said, adding that further details were being ascertained.

The heavy shelling was going on from both sides when this report was being filed. However, there was no immediate report of any causality on either side. (KNO)
