Pakistan violates ceasefire in Naugam, J&K

Srinagar, Jun 17: Pakistan troops violated ceasefire and fired mortars and other weapons at Line of Control (LoC) in Naugam sector in the frontier district of Kupwara, a defence ministry Spokesperson said on Wednesday.

The ceasefire violation in Naugam sector came 24 hours after Pakistan resorted to unprovoked shelling and firing in Tangdhar sector in Kupwara.

Col Rajesh Kalia said that Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire in Naugam sector late Tuesday evening. They resorted to unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing mortars and other weapons.

‘We did not suffer any damage or casualty’, he said.

He added Indian troops also gave befitting response. The damage suffered across the LoC was not immediately known.
