Live grenade found in Kulgam village, defused

Kulgam, May 23: Government forces on Saturday morning found a live hand grenade in Chawalgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district that was later diffused.

Official sources told that the grenade was detected by paramilitary CRPF in the area and a Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) immediately rushed to the spot.

The device was destroyed without causing any damage, they said.

CRPF Assistant Commandant , Gul Junaid Khan, told KNO that grenade was detected by a forces petrol party of 173 Battalion in Chawalgam at morning hours, which was later successfully defused.

“Investigations in this regard are underway,” the officer added—(KNO)
