Ayaz Akbar’s wife suffering from breast cancer; those sitting in the power corridor of Delhi are so heartless that they can’t feel pain: Geelani

Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Geelani has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of imprisoned amalgam spokesperson Ayaz Akbar, extension of remand of JKLF chairman Yasin Malik by National Investigation Agency (NIA), sealing of residential house of jailed DeM chief Asiya Indrabi and repeated questioning of his grandson Anees-ul-Islam by NIA.

“Indian rulers have very brazenly crossed all the moral, ethical and human limits to take revenge from the people in general and pro-freedom leaders and activists in particular,” Geelani said in a statement issued to GNS.

He said the wife of Ayaz Akbar is struggling for her life as she is suffering from breast cancer for the last 4 to 5 years.

“In this pathetic situation, she needs the company, moral help and support of her husband, but those sitting in the power corridor of Delhi are so heartless that they can’t feel the pain and agony of the suffering families of these prisoners,” he said.

Hurriyat (G) chairman said that extending NIA custody of Yasin Malik is “yet again an attempt and a planned conspiracy” to prolong the detention of the pro-freedom leader. “Malik is suffering from multiple ailments and his continuous imprisonment has threatened his life and was hospitalized several times in recent past,” he said.

He strongly condemned the sealing of residence of Asiya Andrabi by NIA, and said his husband Dr Qasim Faktoo is facing life imprisonment for the last 27 years and now their family has been rendered homeless. “This is not only undemocratic and inhuman but shameful as well,” he said.

Geelani also condemned the repeated questioning of his family members by NIA and recent summoning of his grandson Anees-ul-Islam, saying it is aimed at putting a psychological burden on him to force him to “subjugation”.

“But these means and childish acts have been tried in past also and they failed to get their desired result,” he said.

Hurriyat (G) chairman said the “best and simple measure for India is to accept the historical facts and sincerely address the core issue”
