Anantnag: Days after The Kashmir Press reported that the doctors and the para-medics at district hospital Anantnag were “forcing” patients to buy surgical items from a “particular” private dealer, the para-medics at the hospital on Tuesday denied attending the patient who had reported the issue to media.

On June 27, The Kashmir Press reported that a patient Misra was scheduled to get operated for orthopaedic surgery at the hospital. The para-medics “forced” Misra and her attendants to buy surgical items from ‘Asif Medical Store’ outside the hospital.

The Medical Superintendent Dr Mehrab has assured action following which Misra was operated upon.

Today when Misra along with her attendant Majid Ahmad reached the hospital for dressing of the wound, they were denied the procedure by the para-medics in the Operation Theatre.

Majid told The Kashmir Press that they reached the hospital at around 9 in the morning as they had a prior appointment.

“The staff reached the hospital at 10:15,” he said.

Immediately, Majid took Misra to the doctor who removed the previous dressing from the wound and told them to go to Operation Theatre for a fresh dressing.

“The para-medics at the hospital told us that they will not change the dressing as we had reported the issue to the media last time,” Majid said, adding, that they made us wait for over three hours despite no other appointment.

Meanwhile, Dr Mehrab told The Kashmir Press that the hospital does not deny medical aid to anybody. He said that he will look into the issue and address it at the earliest. “I am representing the hospital. It is myy responsibility that all the patients are treated.”
