Two policemen injured as militants hurl grenade on police station Sopore

Srinagar: Two policemen, including a Sub Inspector (SI), were injured in a grenade attack by militants in the apple township of Sopore in north Kashmir district of Baramulla on Friday.

A police official said that militants hurled the grenade at a police station in Sopore, resulting in injuries to an SI and a constable. ”The injured were immediately taken to a hospital,” he said.

They said the militants managed to escape from the spot during the chaos created due to the explosion. 

”Additional security forces have been rushed and a search operation has been launched to nab the attackers,” they said, adding that checkpoints have been established at various places within 5 km radius of the attacked site.
