No Eid prayers at Eidgah Srinagar, congregational prayers to be offered at Jamia Masjid

Srinagar: Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jamia Masjid on Tuesday said that the Eid prayers would not be held at Eidgah in Srinagar due to inclement weather conditions.

A spokesperson of the Auqaf in a statement said: “In view of inclement weather, and Eidgah Srinagar being unfit for prayers Anjuman-e-Auqaf Jama Masjid (AAJ) Srinagar has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr prayers will be offered now at the historic Jama Masjid Srinagar at 10:00 am. (Insha Allah)”

Prior to Eid prayers Kashmir’s chief cleric and Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq will shed light on the philosophy of Eid ul-Fitr in his sermon which will commence at 9:00 am, the spokesperson said.

AAJ has urged the people to participate in the Ijtima in large numbers to express unity and maintain discipline.
