Ten years of imprisonment for husband and sister-in-law in dowry murder case

Patna: A local court today sentenced husband and sister-in-law of a woman to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment in a dowry murder case.

After hearing the case, District and Sessions Judge Rudraprakash Mishra sentenced Kumar Amit, a native of Zunjhunmahal locality under the state capital`s Gardanibagh police station area, and his sister to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment after finding them guilty of murdering the woman for dowry.

The court also asked husband of the woman, Kumar Amit to deposit Rs 2 lakh as fixed bank deposit for his minor daughter till she became major.

According to the accusation, the guilty husband, Amit, used to torment his wife Shambhavi for dowry. On 7 October 2009, he along with his sister Bhavna Kumari murdered Shambhavi and burnt the body in their house.
