Observe Jummat-ul-Vida as ‘Palestine and Kashmir day’: Geelani appeals people

Srinagar: Octogenarian Hurriyat patriarch chairman Syed Ali Geelani on Thursday appealed the people of Kashmir to observe the last Friday of Ramadan as “Palestine and Kashmir Day”.

Geelani also appealed the Organization of Islamic Countries (OIC) to ponder on the present critical political scenario at international level and chalk out an effective strategy to address the challenges faced by the Muslim community at internal and external fronts.

He said that both Palestinian and Kashmiri people have suffered too much since their long subjugation.

Condemning the “despotic and tyrannical methods” of governance adopted by the “occupation regimes” in Palestine and Kashmir, the veteran Hurriyat leader said that both India and Israel are in close relation to suppress the legitimate and popular voice of the people of both regions.

He urged the world community to shun their silence on the “inhuman atrocities, killings in both these regions” and help resolve both long pending issues recognized by United Nations.

He appealed whole Muslim world to pray for free Kashmir and Palestine on the eve of Friday prayers.
