Srinagar:  Expressing sadness over ‘killings of youth daily in one way or the other due to the lingering conflict’, Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq on Friday urged all stakeholders to come together to put an end to violence in Kashmir valley.

‘Let us bring peace to this beleaguered land by resolving the Kashmir issue,’ the Mirwaiz said.

He condemned that Friday prayers were not allowed in the historic Jamia Masjid for the second successive week of the holy month of Ramzan.

‘Condemn that for the second time in #Ramadan jumma prayers disallowed at #JamaMasjid. Extremely sad that each day #Kashmir loses its promising young in one way or other to the lingering conflict. Urge all stakeholders to come together to put an end to this daily killing and violence and bring peace to this beleaguered land by resolving the Kashmir issue,’ the Mirwaiz wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.

Friday prayers were not allowed for the second successive week of holy month of Ramzan in Jamia Masjid in downtown Srinagar, where curfew has been imposed as a precautionary measure in view of protests and clashes, triggered by the death of Ansar Gazwatul Hind chief Zakir Musa in an encounter with security forces in Pulwama.

Last week, Friday prayers were not allowed in Jamia Masjid as all roads leading to the historic mosque were closed as a precautionary measure following a strike call given by separatists against ‘no let-up in killings during Ramzan’.
