Srinagar: At least 25 sheep and horse were charred to death after fire engulfed a house in Kanthol block Kotranka in Kishtwar area in the intervening night of Friday-Saturday.

A residential house belonging to Mohd Jamil, son of Mohd Din of Kanthol block Kotranka Marutha in ward number 01 caught fire in the intervening night.

The owner of the house said he was not in the house last night, saying he returned to home after receiving information about fire.

He said that 25 sheep and horse were charred to death while 15 others have sustained severe burn injuries.

The locals said that the huge loss was caused due to non-availability of Fire and Emergency unit in Kotranka.

When contacted with PS Kandi they said that “our team has already visited the site and we have registered a case in this matter.”
