Srinagar: On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq on Friday hailed the contribution of the Jammu and Kashmir press fraternity.

Tweeting that censoring media is aimed at censoring the truth, Mirwaiz said that the press in Kashmir, despite pulls and pressures, have let the truth prevail.

He tweeted: “Pen is mightier than the sword, On #WorldPressFreedomDay hail the contribution of free press across the globe as well as of our Jammu and Kashmir press fraternity who inspite of pulls and pressures let the truth prevail. Those who censor media aim to censor the truth (SIC).”
