Shopain: Intense gunfight broke out between government forces and militants in Arkhar village of Imam Sahib in South Kashmir’s Shopian district Friday morning.

Sources said that a joint team of government forces including army’s 34 RR and Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a search operation in the area following inputs about the presence of militants.

They said that as the searches were tightened around the suspected spot, the militants hiding in a house fired upon forces who retaliated triggering a gunfight.
