Anantnag: Clashes between protesters and police erupted in Damhal area in Kokernag, and in Brinty Dyalgam during the first phase of three-phased parliamentary polls in Anantnag constituency.

Reports said that the polling stations set up in the two village were pelted with stones leading to clashes in the area.

On Monday evening at least five polling booths were stone pelted in Anantnag including at Sandoo achabal, magraypora, wularhama pahalgam, monghal, and wanihama.

Officials said that at Damhal and Brinty areas no vote was cast till 10 am.

Clashes were going on when this report was being filed.
