Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police have booked two persons under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district and shifted them to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu.

Official sources said that Mohammad Yousuf Chopan son of Mohammad Ramzan Chopan and Suhail Salam Sheikh son of Abdul Salam Sheikh, both residents of Midoora Awantipora were shifted to Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu today after the execution of the PSA. The duo was arrested by police nearly a month ago.

While Yousuf was booked under PSA vide order number DMA/PSA/26/2019, Suhail was booked under DMA/PSA/27/2019.

A police officer said that the duo was involved in anti-national activities and as such were booked under PSA.

Family members of both the persons, however, refuted the police claim that the youth was involved in any unlawful activities.
