Lok Sabha Polls: Clashes rock Budgam parts amid polling for second phase

Srinagar: Clashes erupted in several parts of Budgam district in central Kashmir amid polling for the second phase of parliamentary polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

Witnesses said clashes ensued at several places including in main town Beerwah, Kandoora, Chewdara, Kawoosa and Rathsun villages.

They said that the youths pelted stones on government forces deployed for polling duty and polling stations.  The government forces retaliated using tear smoke shells and pellets.

Clashes were going on when this report was being filed.

Meanwhile reports said that out of 850 registered votes in Kandoora only 6 votes were polled till 12 noon.
