Narayanpet: At least 9 workers were buried alive when a mound of earth collapsed on them at Edmartippa hillock on the outskirts of Tileru village in this district on Wednesday.

Police said the incident occurred when the workers were engaged in NREGS works and were digging earth when the mound of earth collapsed on them. There were at least 15 people working at the time of incident.

Nine bodies have been extricated so far and most of them were women, police added.
