Army called amid curfew following killing of PSO, injuries to RSS leader in Kishtwar

Kishtwar: Army has been called for a flag march amid curfew in Kishtwar district following the attack on Bhartiya Janta Party’s ideological fountainhead Rashtriya Swayamsevak’ Sangh’s (RSS) leader inside a hospital where he works as a medical assistant.

His Personal Security Officer (PSO) was killed on the spot in the attack while gunmen decamped with the rifle of the slain policeman.

Deputy Commissioner, Kishtwar Angrez Singh Rana said that army has been called to carry a flag march while curfew was imposed soon after the incident to prevent any law and order disturbance.

DC confirmed the death of the PSO and the injuries to the RSS leader Chandrakant Singh.

“After being operated upon at the hospital, Chandrakant has been airlifted in a special chopper to GMC Jammu,” DC said.

Meanwhile, a police officer confirmed to GNS decamping of the service rifle of the PSO and said that massive hunt has been launched to nab the attackers.

Earlier, unknown gunmen entered inside the hospital at attacked the RSS leader while he was on duty in the hospital where he works as a medical assistant.

In the attack, his PSO was killed on the spot while some civilians fell unconscious leading to the assumptions of civilian’s death. However, as the situation calms down it transpired that only the PSO has been killed.

On November 1 last year, suspected militants killed BJP state secretary Anil Parihar and his brother in an attack in Kishtwar. (GNS)
