Six political parties formed in last 15 days: Omar Abdullah

Srinagar: National Conference (NC) Vice President and former chief minister Jammu and Kashmir, Omar Abdullah on Thursday questioned the formation of new political parties only in Kashmir, saying that in last 15 days, six political parties have been formed in the Valley.

Omar while talking to reporters on the sidelines of the function in Lolab Kupwara said that new political parties are being formed in the Valley to get the votes divided but not even a single party has come up in Jammu and Ladakh.

“I am not against the people joining politics or forming their parties. I am nobody to stop them from coming forward but I want to ask why such activities take place in Kashmir only,” he questioned.

Omar said that ahead of the elections, six new political parties have been formed in Kashmir in last 15 days.

Reacting to a query, Omar said that he doesn’t speak the language of Hurriyat but of people.

“BJP is speaking one thing in Kashmir and other ion New Delhi. If they have the courage to speak truth to the people then should come clear over the deferring of assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

He blamed BJP for the deferment of assembly polls in the State, saying if Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah would have been willing then they could have conducted the assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir.

Omar said that Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Ram Madhav has told media persons in Srinagar that BJP demands early assembly elections in the State but their statements are contrary what they speak in Srinagar and in Delhi.

“BJP is speaking one language in Srinagar while that is being sabotaged in New Delhi,” he added.

About Article 370, Omar said that the constitution was attacked only when the National Conference (NC) was out of power.
