Srinagar: Three paramilitary CRPF men were killed Wednesday while another was injured in a fratricidal firing incident in Udhampur district of Jammu, officials said.

The incident took place inside CRPF camp of 187 battalion headquarter at Battal area of Udhampur, Station House Officer (SHO) Udhampur Vijay Singh Choudhary said.

He said that one of the CRPF man Ajit Kumar shot at his colleagues at around 10:15 p.m., injuring three of them seriously who later succumbed on the way to hospital.

Meanwhile, Inspector General of Police (IGP) range Jammu, MK Sinha also confirmed the killing of three CRPF men in the fratricidal incident.

“Three men of CRPF of 187 battalion were killed at Battal by a Jawan who shot himself but is alive,” Sinha said.

The IGP further said that police has taken up the investigations and further details of the incident are being ascertained. (GNS)
