NIA denies reports linking it with ‘custodial killing’ of Rizwan

Srinagar: National Investigation Agency (NIA) has denied reports linking NIA with the ‘death’ of Rizwan Ahmed, a  resident of Awantipora in J&K.

“He was neither called for questioning nor was he examined at any other location in connection with cases being investigated by the Agency,” NIA spokesman stated.

Media, quoting sources have reported Rizwan was actually picked up by NIA and later was lodged at Cargo Srinagar to investigate a militancy related case.

According to police, Rizwan died during the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday under custody.

A news gathering agency CNS, however, reported that Rizwan’s name figured among the list of suspects when NIA started probe into deadly suicide attack in Lethpora that left over 40 troopers’ dead.

A day before his death Rizwan according to his family was picked up by Forces while local police informed them he is lodged in Cargo for questioning and they can’t do anything in the matter.

The family of Rizwan described his death as ‘well planned,’ “cold blooded murder.
