J&K Police refute reports about thrashing of KU scholar, ‘vested interest maligning image of police’

Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir police on Friday refuted the news reports alleging that the cops thrashed a KU scholar late Thursday evening.

A police spokesperson said that it is clarified that the particular news item is “devoid of facts”.

“The concerned police officials have informed that yesterday evening, an individual exchanged harsh words with the police party deployed for duties at Hazratbal.  Later, with the intervention of the senior officers and other respectable citizens, the matter was amicably resolved and the individual was personally visited by the senior officers.”

He said that some vested interests are blowing the issue out of proportion only to malign the image of Police.

As such, the news item alleging that students were beaten is strongly rebutted.
