Srinagar: Suspected militants on Wednesday afternoon shot dead army personnel at his home in Pinglana village of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Sources said that the militants barged into the residence of Sajad Ahmad Naikoo (alias Ashiq), army personnel, at Pinglana and fired bullets at him. He was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Ashiq, a former Special Police Officer in Jammu and Kashmir police has joined the army recently and was posted in Srinagar. He was 25.
