Jammu: The Jammu and Kashmir Police Wednesday busted an inter-state drug smuggling gang and seized a major haul of contraband substances. Six accused have been arrested and three trucks were seized as well.
A police spokesperson said that it achieved a major success by recovering 2214 bottles of banned drug Codeine Phosphate and about 3.5 kilograms of high-quality charas in two separate operations late last night.
During a Naka Cheking SOG Jammu alongwith Samba Police seized two trucks which were coming from Punjab and arrested 4 persons. “They recovered 2214 bottles of Codeine phosphate at Mansar Morh and the consignment was concealed in specially made cavities in the trucks.”
“The accused have been identified as Omaak Ahmed Dar, son of Ashiq Hussain Dar, a resident of Sonawar Srinagar; Aaqib Gul son of Ghulam Mohd Ahangar, a resident of Khonmoh Srinagar; Shakeel Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Ahmed Dar, a resident ofDooru Shahbad Anantnag and Isfaq Manzoor, son of Manzoor Ahmed Ahangar, a resident of Khunmoh Srinagar.”
In another raid carried out by SOG Jammu, a Naka was laid near Ban Toll Plaza with the sleuths of PS Nagrota.
“A Tata mobile vehicle was signaled to stop but it accelerated the speed, which however was made to stop at another Naka and after the thorough search of the vehicle and persons sitting in the said vehicle, a consignment of 3.5 kilograms of high quality Charas was recovered,” police said.
“The vehicle was seized and drug smugglers were apprehended who disclosed their identity as Firdoos Ahmed Dar, son of Ghulam Qadir Dar, a resident of Tulkhan Bijbehara and Kounser Ahmed Dar, son of Abdul Rehman Dar, a resident of Tulkhan,” police said. (KNO)
