Ethiopian Airlines plane with 157 aboard crashes, all dead

Addis Ababa: A Boeing 737 of Ethiopian Airlines (ET) with 157 people aboard has crashed on Sunday, the national carrier said.

The flight, bound for Nairobi, Kenya, with 149 passengers and eight crew on board, crashed near Bishoftu city, about 45 km southeast of the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, the ET said in a statement.

A search and rescue mission is underway at the crash site, Biniyam Demssie, an Ethiopian Airlines spokesperson, told Xinhua.

It’s still early to determine the number of casualties in the crash, he said.
