Tral: Two militants have been killed in an encounter in Reshi Mohandas of Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

An official said that two militants have been killed and search is on in the area.

The identification of militants is being ascertained, he said, however sources identified the militants as Irfan Ahmad Rather @Abu Talib son of Gh Hasaan Rather of Shareef abad Tral and Adfar Fayaz @ Abu zarar Son of Fayaz Ahmad Parrey, a resident of Gulshanpora Tral.

Meanwhile sources said that a civilian namely Farooq Ahmad (45) received bullet in his thigh during cross fire. He has been rushed to Srinagar for treatment.

Earlier after nine hours of searching forces managed to establish contact with hiding militant and the house in which militants were hiding has been blasted resulted in killing of two militants.

Earlier on monday evening after receiving specific inputs about the presence of militants, forces including 42 RR, 180 Bn CRPF and SOG of Jammu and kashmir Police launched search operation in the area.

After searching for more than 9 hours and intensifying the search, towards the suspected house the hiding militants opened fire which was retaliated triggered encounter. (KNO)
