Pak fires unprovoked along LoC in Rajouri; Indian Army retaliates

Jammu: Pakistan Army fired on the Indian forces along the Line of Control () for the fifth consecutive day by firing unprovoked on the forward posts in Rajouri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

It prompted the Indian Army to retaliate, Defence sources here said.

‘At about 1630 hrs, Pakistan initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by firing small arms along the LoC in Nowshera sector of Rajouri,’ a Defence Spokesperson here said.

He said the Indian Army effectively retaliated to the firing, while no injury or major damage has been reported, so far.

Earlier during the wee hours on Thursday at about 0100 hrs, the Pakistan Army initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by resorting to heavy shelling with mortars and firing of small arms, along the LoC in Poonch sector.

The Pakistan Army had resorted to unprovoked firing along the LoC, which was retaliated by own troops effectively, while the exchange of fire lasted till 0300 hrs, he added.

Pakistan also violated the truce agreement on Wednesday and Tuesday, said the Spokesperson, adding that the neighbouring nation had violated the ceasefire on February 11 also, while an Army jawan suffered injuries in a sniping shot fired from across the border on February 9.

Earlier on February 5, Pakistan fired shells along the bordering villages close to the Line of Control in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch.

Pakistan on January 27 also violated ceasefire by firing unprovoked in Poonch district.

However, there was no exchange of sweets between Indian and Pakistani Armies on the LoC on Republic Day, this year.

Pakistan continued its nefarious activities along the LoC on January 25 and 24, as they initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by small arms fire and also shelling with mortars in Mendhar sector of Poonch.

Earlier on January 20, Pakistani Rangers violated the ceasefire along the international border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua, while BSF troops responded by limited fire.

On January 18 also, Pakistan fired small arms and violated the ceasefire on international border, while on January 15, a BSF attained martyrdom in sniper fire along the international border in Hiranagar sector of Kathua district.

Pakistani Army has also opened the front along the Line of Control and firing unprovoked for the past two weeks in Poonch and Rajouri sectors.
