Kashmiri students beaten in Maharashtra

Nagpur: At least 12 youth activists of Yuva Sena have allegedly beaten up four Kashmiri students staying in Yavatmal district of Maharashtra for education, in an apparent act of retaliation post the Pulwama suicide bomb attack on a CRPF convoy.

The incident occurred at Waghapur in Vaibhavnagar area of Yavatmal on Wednesday when a group of 10-12 student activists of Yuva Sena, the youth wing of Shiv Sena, allegedly assaulted 3-4 Kashmiri students, as 42 CRPF soldiers were killed in terrorist attack in Pulwama district of south Kashmir last week.

The video of the incident has gone viral on social media.

Following the Pulwama incident, there has been a wave of anger across the country against the terrorism and Pakistan, as a result, Kashmiri students studying outside at different places in the country had to face this agony.

The incidents of assault on Kashmiri students have increased across the various parts of India and now another incident at Yavatmal has added to it.

In the video, Sena activists were seen beating and asking the Kashmiri students about their name and whereabouts as well as their connection with the terrorists, if any.

However, when the Kashmiri students responded saying that they come from a good family and have come here for education, the Youth Sena activists made them chant ‘Vande Mataram’.

Following this incident, the Kashmiri students have lodged a complaint against the Yuva Sena activists at the Lohara police station, police said, adding, due to lack of concrete information about the accused, no action has been taken as yet.
