Srinagar-Jammu highway closed for traffic after fresh snowfall, landslides

Srinagar: Authorities on Thursday shut the Kashmir highway for vehicular traffic after fresh snowfall and landslides at different places on the arterial highway.

A traffic department official said that the roads have turned slippery due to fresh snowfall at Banihal while landslides have blocked the road at some places in Ramban.

The official said that the traffic will be reatored once the weather improves and the vehicles stranded or paked on the highway will be cleared on priority.

The highway remained closed for over a dozen days in January due to landslides and snowfall along the 300-kilometre long road.

Weather is expected to improve from Friday onwards.
