Srinagar: Authorities on Friday shut the Srinagar-Jammu Highway for vehicular traffic due to fresh snowfall at several places on the highway.

Officials said that the highway has been closed due to accumulation of snow on both sides of at Jawahar Tunnel.

Pertinently Kashmir is currently under the grip of Chillai-Kalan, a 40-day long period of harsh winter. Chillai-Kalan commences each year on December 21 and concludes on January 30.
