PDP’s MP protests against Pulwama civilian killings in Parliament

Srinagar: Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Member of Parliament Mir Mohammad Fayaz on Tuesday protested inside the premises of Parliament against the recent civilian killings in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

Fayaz hails from north Kashmir’s Kupwara district, and is a sitting Member of Parliament in the upper house or Rajya Sabha.

Wearing a white T-shirt inscribed with ‘Stop Bloodshed in Kashmir’ and ‘Stop Killings in Kashmir’, the MP held a protest inside Parliament premises near Mahatma Gandhi statue.

The party’s Twitter handle shared the photos of Fayaz, who could be seen protesting inside the Parliament premises.

On Saturday, seven civilians were killed after the government forces opened fire on protesters following a gunfight that left three militants and a soldier dead.

Soon after the civilian killings, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) — an amalgam of pro-freedom leadership — called for three-day shutdown and mourning to protest against the civilian killings.
