Srinagar:The government on Monday put in place stringent restrictions in Kashmir’s capital city Srinagar to foil the Joint Resistance Leadership’s protest march to Badami Bagh Army headquarter against civilian killings in Pulwama.

Authorities have enforced curfew like restrictions in Ram Munshibagh, Rainawari, Khanyar, Nowhatta, M.R. Gunj and Safa Kadal areas police station, with partial restrictions in Maisuma and Kralkhud as well.

Heavy deployments of forces has been made at several places in Srinagar and its outskirts while all the top resistance leaders including Syed Ali Geelani, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik have been either detained at their resisdences or police stations.

A hurriyat spokesperson told Kashmir Reader that government also detained dozens of its activists ahead of the march.

Army late Sunday evening issued a statement asking people not to participate in the protest march.

Meanwhile, a complete shutdown is being observing on the third successive day across Kashmir against the killing of civilian by government forces in Pulwama.

All shops, business establishments, and educational institutes are shut while traffic is off the roads.

The government forces on Saturday killed seven civilians and injured dozens others after firing indiscriminately on them during protests in Pulwama where three militants were killed in a gunfight.
