Attack by timber mafia leaves five forest employees injured in Sopore outskirts

Sopore: An attack by timber mafia has left five forest employees injured in Chehrar area of Sopore in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Thursday.

According to the officials of forest department, a team of forest officials was dispatched to the higher reaches of Sopore forests following an input that timber smugglers were felling down the forest trees.

As soon the team reached the spot, timber smugglers attacked them with axes, other sharp objects and thereafter fled the scene.

In the attack five employees received serious Injuries and was taken to nearby hospital where doctors referred them Sub District Hospital Sopore for advance treatment.

Hospital authorities identified all injured as Feroz Ahmed, Irshad Ahmed, Shazad Ahmed, Abdul Kareem and Tahir Ahmed and said that the condition of all injured persons is said to be stable.

Meanwhile in this regard police has registered a case and initiated investigation in the matter.
