R&B Chief Engineer’s order into allegations of corruption gets binned in Exin’s office

Srinagar: Despite severe allegations of financial irregularities by an employee in the office of Executive Engineer Roads and Buildings department (RRCR Divn), the department has failed to initiate action against the official.

Sources told The Kashmir Press that an employee Mehraj-ud-Din who is engaged as Works Supervisor in R&B department has been retained by the Executive Engineer (RRCR Divn) in his office despite Chief Engineer’s orders that the allegations against the said employee be investigated and be shifted to field.

The directions were given to Superintending Engineer (R&B) Circular Road division.

The directive issued on 29-4-2017 stated: “The allegations against the Works Supervisor are very serious in nature. It is expected that the Exin R&B RRCR Division Srinagar being senior officer in the department could not allow such irregularities and violation of fundamental rules, regulations and responsibilities in management in his division, if so, the Exin be directed to immediately put the executive staff on the field/site so as their services are fully utilized as per designation/ job profile and shall have to maintain absolution discipline in functioning the division within the parameters through the specified officials.

The Superintending Engineer while acting on the directive of Chief Engineer on 1-5-2017 directed the Executive Engineer to immediately put the executive staff on the field/site so as their services are fully utilized as per their designation/job profile.

Despite the directives, the said employee belonging to the field staff of the department enjoys posting in office of the Executive Engineer.

Sources said that the said employee is the blue eyed boy of the Exin Nayeem Hakeem.

Hakeem, sources said, despite orders has retained Mehraj in his office for reasons best known to him.

While the current CE of the department told The Kashmir Press that the Exin must have asked for his retention due to lack of the staff, however, the sources in the department said that several employees already stand deputed to the office of the EE since the order was issued.
