Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (G) chairperson Syed Ali Geelani and Hurriyat Conference (M) chairperson Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have expressed condolences with the families of the people who lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Mandi in Poonch district.
In a statement, Geelani while praying for the heavenly abode to those killed and forbearance to their near and dear ones, expressed his anguish on the negligence of authorities for disproportionate development of the whole Chenab valley.
Geelani condemned the discrimination against the Chenab region. “The area might not have any military significance, so the highway running through this mountainous region has been left in lurch to become open graves for the passengers of this area. Statistics regarding the accidents swallowing passengers on these dilapidated roads and highways present a dismal picture as compared to other militarily important roads running through the skyhigh mountains.”
Meanwhile, Mirwaiz tweeted: “Deeply grieved at the loss of life in the tragic road accident at Poonch. My condolences to the affected families. Pray to almighty for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
